Why Accounting and Finance?

Based on our assessment, there are many accounting careers to choose from, as this is one of the few industries that has truly been booming and growing at a fast rate in recent years, and it is expected to continue growing.

Careers in accounting will always be necessary as long as businesses, nonprofits, governmental agencies and other organizations have funds and financial information that must be accounted for.

Earning a degree in accounting and Finance makes more sense than ever before. The following accounting careers are some of the more sure to be in demand for many years to come:

  • Federal government accountants
  • Certified Personal Accountants
  • Tax auditors
  • Tax preparers
  • Bookkeepers
  • Payroll managers /service providers
  • Management of companies and enterprises
  • Local government accountants and auditors
  • Federal Government Accountants and Auditors.

    • Businesses typically generate numerous financial data and reports. An accurate record for this information is necessary to determine a company’s profitability. An accounting department fills this need. The individuals in the department often have education and training that provides knowledge for preparing and disseminating financial information. Departments may consist of a single accountant or a large group of accountants.
    • Accounting enables companies to keep score for their operations. Owners and managers often desire to make the highest profit while spending the least amount of money. Accountants detail financial information in a manner that helps companies’ measure profitability. Other statements that accountants prepare report the company’s net worth and cash flow.
      As the private sector grows in Ethiopia, there is a need for well-qualified Accountants.  However, there is currently high demand of human resource in this field.  Professional Accountants also needed to play a crucial role in the management of the public sector.  The career opportunities for accountants are therefore numerous.
  • Realizing the importance of Accounting and the demand of skilled manpower in the field, GAGE College wants to contribute by giving training at a BA. Degree in accounting and Finance program starting from 2007E, C.
